Imperial War Museum Duxford

Duxford is Europe's premier aviation museum - as well as having one of the finest collections of tanks, military vehicles and naval exhibits in the country. Many of the aircraft in the museum belong to private owners and are in airworthy condition. Several of them were restored at Duxford.

This famous heritage site began as an airfield in the First World War and also played a vital role in the Second World War, firstly as an RAF fighter station and later as an American fighter base.

Every year there are three major airshows at Duxford. The Flying Legends airshow, held in the 2nd weekend of July, is probably the most interesting of them. Only aircraft with piston engines to take to the skies then. On average there are 10 Spitfires and 6 Mustangs attending this show.

For current visiting hours, please visit the website of the museum.
