LARGE REPAIR HALL IN MOLENSCHOT

The large repair hangar at Broekstraat (then Molenschotsedijk) was built at the end of 1940 and early 1941. Large parts of the foundation are still there. Two different names circulate for this large hangar. Shortly after the war, the name Oberhalle was widely used for this hangar, it was so named by people who had been involved in its construction. Later studies showed that the dimensions of this hangar correspond to a standard Hobag hangar, which are built on several airports. So a Hobaghalle. The name Hobag comes from Holzbau A.G. A company of aircraft pilots from Breslau.
The hangar was 70 meters wide and 35 meters deep. To the left and right, outbuildings were made of 3.5 x 9 meters, into which the large sliding sliding doors went, if they had to be opened.
Repair and maintenance work was carried out in this hangar on mostly bombers Ju 88 and Do 217.
