Crash Location Stirling LJ988

On 20 September 1944 Short Stirling LJ988 crashed here during a resupply flight for Operation Market Garden. This location was then the open air swimming pool "De Branding".
The entire crew lost their lives:

Warrant Officer W.R. Tait, RCAF (pilot)
Pilot Officer D.G. Benning (air gunner)
Warrant Officer E.W. Bancroft, RCAF (bombardier)
Flight Sergeant T.B. Cragg (wireless operator)
Flight Sergeant C. Mabbott (navigator)
Flight Sergeant A.J. Murphy (flight engineer)
Air despatcher Driver G. Neale was also killed. Driver L.C. Nyle was wounded and captured.
