Fortress Isle Someri

On the Finish islet of Someri are a couple fortifications. The construction was started by the Russian army during the First World War and completed by Finland after WW1.

The island was scene of heavy fighting between 8 - 9 July 1942, when the Red Army launched a full scale attack with small battle ships and aircraft. The Finish garrison on Someri managed to drove the Russians back with artillery support from the Finnish islet of Ulko-Tammio. After the Second World War it was ceded by Finland to the Soviet Union.
