Railroad Bridge Wesel

Railroad bridge across the Rhine near Wesel.

The bridge was part of "the German Line".A railroad from Wesel to the dutch town of Boxtel.
This railroad system penetrated the "Peel Line"at the dutch town of Mill during the start of the war in the Netherlands on the 10th of May.

During September 1944 the bridges near Wesel were a target as part of "Operation Comet".After deleting the bridges at Wesel as a target and downsizing, the operation was renamed "Operation Market Garden".

Under the great arches in 1945 the ME-262 jet fighter airplanes were hidden for protection.
Damage on the arches suggest various impacts.

This bridge was blown up by retreating German troops on 10-03-1945.
