In the Forestry of Borger - Odoorn are three small memorials to commemorate killed children. These innocent children lost their lives after the Second World War by playing with leftover ammunition.

The text on these small monuments can be translated as follows:
The Second World War also caused victims after the war was over.
On 22 July, 1945, on this spot, DERK PEPPING,
aged fourteen years, lost his life together with his little brother and his little friend
playing with left behind live German ammunition

The Second World War also caused victims after the war was over.
On 22 July, 1945, on this spot KORNELIS PEPPING
lost his life, nine years of age, together with his brother and little friend
while playing with left behind live German ammunition

The Second World War also caused victims after the war was over.
On 22 July, 1945, on this spot, REMMELT GROENEWOLD,
fourteen years of age, lost his life together with his two friends
while playing with left behind live German ammunition
