Memorial Coldstream Hill

(France - Basse-Normandie - Saint-Martin-des-Besaces)

This hill, formerly known as Hill 309, was captured on 30 July 1944 by the 4th Coldstream Guards. After that it was renamed to Coldstream Hill.

The memorial commemorates Brigadier Sir Walter Barttelot, commander of the 4th Coldstream Guards, who was killed on 16 August 1944.
