Memorial Stirling BK767

The text on the memorial:
"FLYING FOR PEACE

Memorial to commemorate the crew of the British Stirling bomber BK767, that crashed here on June 26th 1943.

The following crew members died:
F/O. B.H. Church 21 years
Sgt. W. Th. Davis 21 years
Sgt. F. Mills 20 years
Sgt. W.H. Thompson 21 years
F/O. J.F. Tritton 28 years

Survivors were:
F/O. K.A. Nielson
Sgt. E.G. Taylor
They were taken prisoner.

In the war they were honoured with a wreath with the words:

"BROKEN WINGS, EVERLASTING GLORY"


The memorial represent a globe with a pigeon. However from certain viewpoints you will see flames instead of a pigeon.
