Remains Bunker Captain Wladyslaw Raginis

This is the spot where the bunker of the 31 years old captain Wladyslaw Raginis once stood. He was assigned with the taks to defend the Wizna fortified area. His forces (720 men) were attacked by 42.000 German soldiers. The defence of Wizna lasted from 7 till 10 September 1939. After Heinz Guderian's threat to execute Polish POW's if the Polish defence did not cease, captain Raginis committed suicide by throwing himself on a grenade.
