De Poort der Bevrijding (The Gate of Liberation)

The monument 'The Gate of Liberation' in Waddinxveen is an obelisk, placed on a circular plateau, with a wall behind it. The column is 9 meters high.
The column reads:
1940
1945

and on the wall behind it are the texts:
FOR THOSE WHO FELL
OF THOSE WHO STAYED

The monument was erected in memory of all (civilians and military personnel) who have died as a result of acts of war and terror since the outbreak of the Second World War. The unveiling took place on May 5, 1947.
