War Memorial Oost- en West Souburg

(Netherlands, the - Zeeland - West Souburg)

Souburg East and West are separated by the canal through Walcheren and are part of the municipality of Vlissingen. This monument is a joint memorial of Souburg East and West and is situated on the Marnixplein in West Souburg.

The inscription on the plaque of the memorial:
"In order for the offspring to know"

Allied liberators
who died by
the war violence
during the years 1939-1948

During the war there was a prison camp for predominantly black dealers and perpetrators of minor offenses against the occupier.
