War Memorial Belsele

This memorial commemorates the residents of Belsele who were killed or missing in World War I and World War II.

Many of these memorials were erected after the First World War. After the Second World War, the names of those who died in that war were also added to the memorial.

The bas-relief "To our heroes" was designed and sculpted by Robert Van De Velde from Sint-Niklaas. The monument was inaugurated on August 17, 1924.
On the left and right are the names of the 27 fallen and 2 captured during the First World War.
Below the bas-relief are the 16 names (per 4) of the war victims 1940 - 1945.
Below this hangs a small bronze plaque with the words: 1944 1994 PEACE.ose who died in that war were also added to the memorial.
