Abeele Aerodrome Commonwealth War Cemetery

This cemetery is named after the airfield that was located in Abeele.

Originally the French had a cemetery here in this location that they used from the Battle of Lys onwards and where they buried 91 French soldiers and 84 American soldiers. The English took over this cemetery in August 1918 and all the 104 burials are from the 1918 actions.

After the Armistice the French and the Americans were brought to the French and American cemeteries
