Plofsluis Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie

The Plofsluis was a part of the New Dutch Waterline and was built above the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal from 1937 on. The sluice was not ready at the beginning of World War II.

The sluice consisted of bins filled with debris, of which the bottom could be blown up so that the content blocked the canal.

The sluice was defended by 4 G-casemates.

In 1981, the canal was widened and since then it runs around the sluice..
