Pont des Belges Trouville-sur-Mer

(France - Basse-Normandie - Trouville-sur-Mer)

This bridge has been renamed after the liberators of Deauville and Trouville: the Belgian soldiers from the Brigade Piron. Deauville was liberated on 22 August 1944 and Trouville on 24 August 1944. When Deauville was liberated, the Germans bombard Deauville and blew up this bridge. During the battle, 2 Belgians and 3 British died.

There's a memorial in the centre of the bridge with following text:
En hommage aux
militaires Belges et Luxembourgeois
de la Brigade PIRON
Libération de Deauville
et Trouville
le 22 et 24 Août 1944

The translation of this text:
In memory of the

from the Brigade PIRON

and Trouville
22 and 24 August 1944
