Russian Positions Reitwein
(Germany - Brandenburg - Reitwein)
The Red Army created a bridgehead in January 1945 in the forrest south of Reitwein. General Chuikov (62th Army) had his field HQ here, which was used by Marshall Zhukov (1st Belorussian Front) during the Battle of the Seelow Heights (16 - 19 April 1945). Today, there are still trenches, fox holes, artillery positions and impact craters in these woods.
