Commonwealth War Graves Morkhoven

At the Municipal Cemetery in Morkhoven are four Commonwealth War Graves.
These are the graves of the on August 25, 1942 killed men:

Flight Lieutenant (Obs.) Robert Murray Buchan, 89769, age 22.
Sergeant (Air Gnr.) Edward Vincent Norman, 962166, leeftijd onbekend.
Sergeant (Air Gnr.) Harold Denzil Quintrell, 553387, age 20.
Sergeant (Flt. Engr.) Peter Squires, 1096448, age 20.

On August 24, 1944 at 2051 departed from Wyton airfield in England, the Lancaster R5610 with the mission a raid over the city of Frankfurt in Germany. The aircraft was shot down over Belgium by the German night fighter Oberleutnant Walter Barte, 4./NJG 1. After that it crashed at 0215 in Morkhoven. In the crash, four of the seven crew members got killed, they were buried in this cemetery. Of the remaining crew members, two were taken prisoner of war and one managed to escape.
