Former House Resistance Fighter Rijneveld Willige-Langerak

This farm at the address Tiendweg 26, near the Lek, was occupied by the resistance fighter Hendrik Rijneveld during World War II. During World War II German soldiers checked all passengers on the ferry over the Lek. The Germans made the work of the underground resistance difficult. The resisters had the "Escape-Line" designed to evade Allied soldiers (mostly airmen), accompanied by a courier to bring them back to liberated territory. The farm on Tiendweg 26 inhabited by resistance fighter Henk Rijneveld his mother and was used as an intermediate station. At night they were then, after exchange of light signals transferred into an inflatable dinghy. In this way, more than 30 soldiers managed to find there way back to England. The farms are now occupied by the family of Henk Rijneveld and now is on this address The Natural History Museum "De Wielewaal".
