Commonwealth War Graves Outgaarden

On the General Cemetery in Outgaarden are two Commonwealth war graves. These are the graves of Pilot Officer (Pilot) Peter William Vaughan and Aircraftman 2nd Class (Air Gunner) Edwin Mold.
On 13 May 1940 at 0730 departed from Monchy-Lagache airbase in France, the Westland Lysander P9063 with the mission an exploration of German positions. During this trip, the Lysander was attacked by seven German Messerschmitt fighters and crashed at 0845 in Outgaarden. In the crash, the two crew members got killed, they are both buried in this cemetery.
