Belgian Prisoner of War Memorial Arlon

This monument in honor of the Belgian prisoners of war was built is on the military training centre of Stockem (Arlon). Remarkable are the images related to the prisoners of war that died. Such as: Willemstad - Netherlands & Isenbüttel - Germany. First mentioned is the tragic accident that rijnaak "RHENUS 127" had when it hit a magnetic mine. 134 Belgian soldiers who were on their way to one of the many Stalags camps in Nazi Germany died. Also In Isenbüttel several soldiers with Belgian nationality payed with their lives as free men when they were on their way to their Nazi-occupied homeland. Near the station of Isenbüttel in the German in Niedersaksen, the soldier train crashed with a freight train, a death toll of 127 Belgian soldiers was the result. Most were buried in the graveyard Fallingbostel. Several were later repatriated to their homeland difference waist.
