Carew Cheriton Control Tower

The Carew Cheriton Showground is a historical place. On the terrain we can find the completely restored control tower of the former Carew Cheriton Aisbase, restored by the Cheriton Control Tower Group. The base was opened in 1938 as a support base for the flying boat base at Pembroke Dock. From June 1940 it was the home base of the Dutch No. 320 and 321 squadrons. From the nearby flying boat base the Dutch operated Fokker T-VIIIW floatplanes of the Dutch Royal Navy that had fled to England after the Germans occupied the Netherlands in May 1940. The museum in the control tower is located on the edge of the Carew Cheriton Showground. The tower itself is also a memorial for those who served at this airfield in the two World Wars.
