Volgograd Tractor Factory

This factory was scene of heavy fighting in October 1942 during the battle of Stalingrad. The Stalingrad Tractor Factory (its original name) still produced T-34 tanks during the battle and damaged tanks and other heavy military equipment were brought to this factory for reparation. An assault by the 24. Panzerdivision and the 389. Infanteriedivision eventually silenced the machines on 16 October 1942 after days of brutal hand-to-hand combat.

The factory today:
It was rebuild after the battle and is still in use today. In front of the main entrance is a T-34/76 tank standing, which commemorates the heroic deeds of the defenders of this factory.
